Treated and untreated fruit after 5 days in ambient air under conditions identical to a retail store.
New anti-browning technology developed by Agrifresh Biotech, a Taiwanese company specialising in post-harvest processing, preservation, quality and taste of tropical fruits.
A typical tropical fruit (lychee, longan, rambutan) has a short life span, especially due to browning of the skin. A major disadvantage of tropical fruits retailers, this lack of shelf life is reduced by the use of SO2
but its use has allergic risks.
Agrifresh Biotech has developed an innovative product as the treatment maintains the attractive color products for 4-7 days after the cold chain, when the products are on the shelves at retailers. The new technology uses additives authorized by the USDA and FDA EC SANCO.
