Macfrut 2010 gave visitors a complete overview of the fruit and vegetable sector.
Macfrut plays a crucial role in the revival of the European fruit and vegetable industry and the 2010 edition, held in Cesena (Italy) from 6th to 8th October, pave the way for the future. The so many conferences and events, alongside the participation of outstanding exhibitors specialized in the different sectors of the field, both from Italy and abroad, gave visitors a complete overview of the fruit and vegetable scenario: the needs of companies as well as those of consumers, the challenges of the sector along with the most innovative products put on the market.
The number of exhibitors grew by 5%, while the number of participants increased by 1% compared to 2009. The growth of foreign participants was even stronger, from 2 to 3%. There were also several foreign delegations: from Egypt, which gathered in a collective booth in the exhibition, from Sub-Saharan Africa, but also from the emerging countries, which played a crucial role in the 27th
edition of Macfrut and took part in the event with great enthusiasm.
Visitors could enjoy many and varied events, which were scheduled for this Macfrut edition. The second European Fruit Summit was some sort of preview to the exhibition: on this occasion, many experts took the stock of apple, pear, citrus fruit and kiwi production in the EU27.
“What I’m most proud of”, says Domenico Scarpellini, the president of Cesena Fiera, “is that I’ve seen many more relieved faces among those who were leaving the exhibition than among those who were coming in. This means that Macfrut is increasingly able to fulfill its primary duty, that is being a good point of reference for producers and professionals of the Mediterranean fruit and vegetable sector.
