South Korea opened its borders to Italian kiwifruit. Italy is the only European provider in the Korean market.
South Korea has opened its market to Italian kiwifruit. After a long and complex process that began in 2005, health authorities have just given the necessary permits and Italy is the only European country to export kiwifruit in Korea.
This opening is a major opportunity for the Italian
kiwifruit industry in this important market. South Korea imported 30,000 tons of kiwifruit in 2010, mostly from New Zealand and Chile.
The kiwi could be the first step towards the entry of other Italian fuits and vegetables.
