It's Pear Month in the United States

In the USA, since 2004, the Department of Agriculture has made the month of December, the National Month of the Pear.

 

 

 

This National Pear Month is the best time to celebrate the abundance of production. This month marks the moment when the 10 varieties of pears grown in the United States are at the peak of their freshness and availability.

 

 

 

 

 

The pear varieties grown in the states of Washington and Oregon are: Anjou Green, Anjou Red, Bartlett Red Bartlett, Bosc, Comice, Concorde, Forelle, Seckel and Starkrimson.
