Imports of apples in December

According to official statistics data, in December 2008, volume of apple imports to Ukraine totaled 29.400 tons that is up 1.7 times, compared to the same index in 2007 - 17.500 tons.
During the reporting period, Poland remained the main supplier of apples, 95 % of all supplies fell to the share of Polish exporters. At that, the average imports price for Polish apples reached the level of 423 US$ per ton.
During 2008, 176.900 tons of apples were imported to Ukraine that is up 25 %, compared to 2007. At that, the main suppliers of apples were Poland (74 % of total imports volume), Georgia (11 %), Italy (11 %) and Moldova (3 %).
