A campaign to increase awareness and consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables has been launched by Fresh Produce Consortium.
The FPC's campaign is called Eat in Colour and aims to put the pleasure back into eating fruit and vegetables by injecting some colour into mealtimes.
Research suggests that each household spends just £8 per week on fruit and vegetables, which is the same amount spent on takeaways.
However, latest government figures do point to consumption of fruit and vegetables being higher than in previous years.
The FPC is a trade association for the fresh fruit, vegetable and flower industry, which represents retailers, wholesalers, importers and packers.
