Vegetables set back but fruits are at the top for Spanish exports

The results of Spanish exports of Fruits & Vegetables for the month of September are mixed. Vegetables are down (-4.5% in volume and -3.5% in value) while fruits are at the top (+ 19% in volume and + 16% in value).
According to data from the Customs Department, processed by FEPEX, for the month of September 2019 vegetable exports were reduced by 5% compared to September 2018, reaching 210,081 tons. This decline is attributable to poor weather conditions (cold, floods) recorded in the regions of Valencia, Murcia and Almeria.
For this month of September 2019, vegetable exports totaled 210,081 tons (-5% compared to September 2018) and reached EUR 188 million (-3.5%).
Fruit exports totaled 406 663 tonnes (+ 19% compared to September 2018) and reached EUR 409 million (+ 16%). The month of September coincides with the end of the stone fruit season, which has recorded notable growth, such as fishing with 65 925 tonnes (+ 30%) and nectarine with 66 773 tonnes (+ 32%)
In aggregate from January to September, Spanish exports of fruit and vegetables amounted to 9.8 million tonnes and EUR 9.961 million, representing a volume growth of 5% and a value of 5%.
