Prices of Fruits & Vegetables have dropped

Retail prices of Fruits & Vegetables collapsed in Tamil Nadu , southern India. 

After the " Pongal " celebrations, a traditional festival in southern India , prices of Fruits & Vegetables dropped . A decrease of 50 to 75% is often seen in relation to prices before " Pongal " and sometimes a price that does not even cover 50% of the production cost.

The producers are in a dangerous position, some will be unable to repay their loans. They feel that the government should set a minimum purchase price for Fruits & Vegetables .
