Cultivation of broccoli in the USA and in EU countries.

Fast development of broccoli cultivation in the USA during last ten years shows existing great potential in the market for this vegetable. Presently areas of broccoli cultivation in the USA are bigger than 45.000 hectares and production volume is around 470.000 tons per a year.
Consumption increased from 2,5 in 1994 till 3,2 kg per capita in 2006.
In EU countries, broccoli cultivation areas augmented especially in the beginning of 21st century, total production in European Community doesn't pass 37.000 tons per a year.
However, in some regions of Europe broccoli cultivation surface remarkably extended, as for example in Murcia in Spain where it passed 4.500 hectares.
