Agriculture is driving growth

The agriculture of Ghana continues to grow and plays a major role in economic growth of the country.
The Ghana Statistical Service announces that the agriculture increased between January and March, at a rate of +12.7%. This increase has stimulated the growth rate of GDP in Ghana to 6.7% in the 1st quarter, while it was 4.9% in the last quarter of 2013.
Agricultural production recorded growth rates above +5% since the early 2000s. The country invests nearly 10% of its annual budget to the improvement of agriculture. The expenses on agricultural research and development have doubled between 2002 and 2010, the area under cultivation and yield also increased significantly.
