Vietnam’s agro exports reach $33.5B in H1, targets rise by year-end
VU
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is prioritising institutional reforms, building sustainable supply chains, and expanding market access for fruits and vegetables.
In the first half of 2025, Vietnam’s agriculture sector earned $33.5 billion in exports, despite challenges from trade tensions and tariff shifts. The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment aims to reach $65 billion for the full year, with $14–15 billion expected in Q3 and $16 billion in Q4.
Fruit and vegetable exports are a key pillar of this goal, though the sector is under pressure due to slowing demand in China. To counter this, Vietnam is turning to high-value markets through trade agreements with the EU, Japan, and South Korea.
The cashew industry is aiming for $4.5 billion in 2025 exports, focusing on emerging Middle East markets while maintaining ties with the U.S. and China.
Processed fruit and value-added products like fruit-based snacks are being promoted to access premium markets. Vietnam is also investing in quality upgrades to reach mid- to high-end consumer segments.
To sustain growth, the ministry is prioritising supply chain improvements, expanding into new markets, and advancing sustainable agricultural exports, particularly fruits and vegetables.
