Despite the drought which reduced production of various agricultural products, Thai exports benefited from rising demand and world prices.
Local media report that, according to FTI (Federation of Thai Industries), TCC (Thai Chamber of Commerce) and NFI (National Food Institute), food exports in 2023 should reach THB 1,550 billion (USD 44.3 billion).
Results to September 2023 suggest that this target will be met. Notable increases were recorded, notably for fresh fruit exports (+27% in value) and frozen and dried fruit exports (+25.2%); only processed fruit showed a negative variation (-10.4%).
