Growth of + 12% in volume for Moroccan citrus exports.
Few negative impacts of the health crisis for the Moroccan agricultural sector which recorded an increase of + 9% in exported volumes.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Morocco succeeded in exporting 474,900 tons of fruit and vegetables until January 2021. That is an increase of + 9% compared to the previous agricultural season.
This positive result could be obtained in particular thanks to the performance of citrus fruits which totaled 286,300 tons (+ 12%), tomatoes with 260,100 tons (+ 1%) as well as processed agricultural products (+ 12%) including frozen strawberries (+ 2%) and fruit juices (+ 28%).
However, the year 2020 was not easy, because of the health crisis but also because of the climatic conditions and the low rainfall. Despite these difficulties, the Moroccan agricultural sector has managed to maintain good production levels to ensure exports.
For the 2020-2021 campaign, an increase of 10% is envisaged for exports of Moroccan agro-food products.
