In Croatia, the harvest of mandarins is estimated to be 15% less than the volume harvested last year. Industry professionals believe, however, that exports will grow
According to estimates from a producer organization, the harvest of mandarins is expected to reach 30,000 to 32,000 tonnes. That is a decrease of 15% compared to the volume harvested last year.
Mandarins will likely be uniform in size, and the top-selling size will account for a considerable portion of this year's harvest, which is expected to start in late September.
Of this expected volume, around 15,000 tonnes of mandarins will be sold on the domestic market, and the rest on foreign markets. Industry professionals believe that tangerine exports can be expected to increase due to the coronavirus outbreak, as this could prompt consumers to buy more citrus fruits.
