Avocado exports increased 28% in volume and 39% in value

In 2021, Peruvian avocado exports reached 525.829.494 kilos, worth $1.050.664.197, according to the president of the consulting firm Inform@cción, Fernando Cillóniz Benavides.
These figures reflect an increase of 28.2% in volume and 39% in value compared to 410.000.000 kilos shipped in 2020, for a value of $755.829.979.
The main destination markets for this fruit were the Netherlands, the United States, Spain and Chile. These countries together concentrated 68% of the total volume (358.000 T).
In the analyzed year, imports of Peruvian avocado by the Netherlands reached 180.000 tons. The United States imported 90.000 tons, Spain 88.000 tons and Chile 71.500 tons.
Other markets: United Kingdom (38.000 T), Russia (11.000 T), China (14.000 T), Argentina, Canada, South Korea, Hong Kong, Bolivia, Italy, Belgium, among others.
According to Cillóniz, in 2022, Peruvian avocado exports would increase in volume by up to 20% compared to the previous year, that is, exceed 600.000 tons. The rise would be driven by the appearance of new plantations.
