Apple production recoil

In Germany, apple production decreased during 2015.

The production in 2015 with 973 000 tonnes, is less than 13% from the production of the previous year, an exceptional year for the apple crop. This 2015 production, however, is higher than the average of the past 10 years (965 000 tonnes) said DESTATIS, the Federal Statistical Office.

The areas remained almost constant over the last ten years and currently consist of 31 400 hectares. The most important production areas are located in the Baden-Württemberg region, Niedersachsen, Sachsen (Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Saxony), where 659 000 tonnes (68%) are harvested.
