Modena, Ferrara and Bologna were hit by a magnitude 6 earthquake on Sunday night.
The epicenter was located north of Bologna, but the tremor was felt throughout the north-east to Venice. This earthquake, of intensity equal to that of L'Aquila in 2009, has damaged many historic buildings
in cities and also rural buildings.
Houses, barns, greenhouses, sheds are damaged. Crumbling buildings caused the destruction of tractors and agricultural machinery and photovoltaic systems. It is too early to estimate damage.
