Iceland, Switzerland and Costa Rica rise at the top.
The big American universities of Yale and Columbia published a world index of environmental performances.
The 2010 classification lists 163 countries and contains about ten categories among which: health, air quality, water and biodiversity, housing environments, forest, fishing and agriculture.
France is in 7th rank. For other big industrial nations, United Kingdom arrives 14th; Germany 17th, Japan 20th United States behind the other nations industrialized is in 61st position.
Among the emergent nations, Brazil is 62nd and Russia 69th whereas China and India are in 121st and 123rd rank.
