Kick-off in export oranges season
FJ
Encouraging forecasts for the sector: 25,000 tonnes of oranges should be exported this season , far better than the 23,200 tonnes shipped last season.
GIF ( Groupement Interprofessionnel of Fruits ) announced the period of exports, from January 11th until April 2016. If the total orange Maltese production fell ( 111,500 tonnes this year against 146,000 tonnes previously ) , quality and gauge rose sharply , which may promote an increase in export prices .
Regarding market diversification strategy, a marketing first operation on the Russian market is scheduled for early February. Oranges in Tunisia will first join the ports of Genoa and Marseille , and then will be transported by land to Russia
