In Australia, professionals in the avocado sector expect a record crop of the Hass variety. Compared to the previous season, the volume produced will be 8,000 tons higher.
This year's avocado harvest is expected to reach 95,000 tonnes, up by 9% from 87,000 tonnes last year.
Professionals in the sector explain this increase by the massive plantings made in recent years to meet the demand. It takes 3 or 4 years for an avocado tree to start producing and many new avocados begin their production period.
The Hass avocado crop is considered exceptional in Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, and the western NSW region.
