Berries, at the heart of FRESH AND LIFE Symposium

FRESH AND LIFE Symposium at the opening of the exhibition Fruit Attraction 2014 will have for subject the berries.

The day before the opening of Fruit Attraction ( October 15-17 ) will start on Tuesday 14 the FRESH AND LIFE Symposium that will process the berries. Topics include : properties of berries on health and varietal improvement as a tool to encourage consumption. Many renowned scientists will intervene before the professionals.

Mary Ann Lila, the State University of North Carolina, will give a presentation on " The bioactive properties of berries and their preventive effects on health". The presentation will report on progress in identifying the lastest and the mode of action of bioactive compounds in berries (mainly strawberries, raspberries , blueberries and blackberries) and their anti- inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Another American researcher, Jose Chaparro , will speak on varietal improvement, with a view on the creation of new varieties to merge the best qualities of the fruit and thus increasing consumption.
