A new route between Vietnam and the Guangxi Zhuang region, in the south of China.
To facilitate the transport of fruit and agricultural products, between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a new maritime link is in operation between HCM City (Vietnam) and Fangchenggang (Guangxi Zhuang region in the south from China).
Insured by 4 ships of the Chinese company COSCO which have a capacity of 11000 standard containers, the connection is weekly but should increase quickly. Products arriving in the Chinese port of Fangchenggang can be transported by road or rail to Beijing and Shanghai.
This new route will increase fruit exports from ASEAN countries (Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia) China's agricultural exports to ASEAN markets.
Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports to China totaled US $ 309.9 million (+ 31%) in the first two months of this year and represented 73.6% of the total value of exports. During the same period, Vietnam imported fruit and vegetables from China worth 31 million USD, accounting for 19% of the country's total imports.
