Fruits imports from western Africa are now prohibited to Mauritius.

 

Mauritius prohibits some imports in order to stop Ebola virus from entering the island.

 

The Mauritius government strengthens airport and port controls in order to stop illegal imports. Plants, fruits and animals from western Africa is now prohibited to import.

 

An awareness campaign on the methods of transmission of the disease and measures are currently underway throughout the island .

 

According to Mauritian professionals, this import ban will not reduce supplies in fruits as the majority are imported from South Africa , Egypt , Pakistan, and parts of Europe .
