Between 2021 and 2022, Portuguese fruit and vegetable supplies to Spain totaled 342,877 tons and 286 million euros, growing 13% in volume and 15% in value, according to data from the Customs and Excise Department of the Tax Agency.
In the last 5 years, imports of these merchandise from Portugal to Spain increased 23% in volume and 57% in value, going from 278,608 T and 182.2 million euros in 2018 to 342,877 T and 286 million euros in 2022.
In turn, in 2022, Portugal positioned itself as the fourth-largest destination for fruit and vegetables in Spain, with a total of 689,753 T for 566 million euros, which reflects a year-on-year decrease of 5% in volume and an increase of 8 % in value.
In the last 5 years, the volume of Spanish fruit and vegetable exports to Portugal decreased by 2%, from 705,106 T in 2018 to 689,753 T in 2022, while the value increased by 22%, from 463 million euros to 566 million euros in 2022.
