Situation of raspberries in the market in mid-September 2008

Sources in Poland say that the fruit is only fit for pulp/pressing at the moment and that the quality for IQF or Whole & Broken is not there and indications are that the harvest will finish earlier than expected. Serbian prices continue to be firm with no signs movement and crumb still selling at €2.7 p/kg ex works. The situation in Europe will put more pressure on the Chilean crop and indications are that buyers from USA are already trying to secure contracts before the crop has developed and any fruit which is available at present is selling at around US$5,500 per ton.
