Imports of bananas and citrus to decrease

According to forecasts of the specialists of Fruit-Inform project, in 2008, consumption and imports of exotic fruits, citrus and bananas will decrease.

 

As specialists reported, the main reason is decrease of Ukrainian currency exchange course that will lead to rise in prices for imported bananas, oranges, tangerines and other imported fruits and decrease of purchasing capacity.

 

Consumers will reject from expensive exotic fruits giving preferences to cheaper products. At that, volumes of banana sales will not significantly decrease, as the prices are comparatively low.
