Japan pear and grape production increases

Japanese production of grapes and pears increased in 2005 due to improved weather conditions during the growing season. Production of pears in 2005 increased by 10 percent to just over 360,000 tonnes, after a poor year in 2004. Grape production increased by 7 percent to almost 220,000 tonnes.
