Good prospects for citrus in Moulouya: its clementines account for 80% of exports.
According to data from the Regional Agricultural Development of Moulouya (ORMVAM), citrus fruit production will rise to 255,000 tons, including 132,000 of clementines.
Exports are expected to reach 75,000 tons. Clementines account for 80% of exports and markets include Canada, the European Union, the Gulf and Russia
.
Following rhw Green Morocco Plan, citrus now occupy 17,250 hectares around Moulouya, representing 24% of the irrigated area. This area will increase to 18,900 hectares in 2013 and 19,400 hectares in 2020. Annual production will experience an increase of 164% to 580,000 tons in 2020.
