With these free distributions Coldiretti also wanted to try to educate the public about the importance of fruits & vegetables in the diet.

Coldiretti organized a special operation "Fruits at the Beach", free distribution of fruits on beaches, on Saturday 19 July. Peaches, plums, watermelons are the source of joy of the holiday at beaches.

With this event, Coldiretti wanted to let the public know the importance of fruits for health. Fruits are essential especially in summer to beat the heat.

Coldiretti also emphasized the decline observed in the consumption of fruits and vegetables in Italy. This year, the consumption of fruits and vegetables is below the minimum level recommended by the World Health Organization. What is paradoxical in a country like Italy, which is the European leader in the production but whose economic situation is largely responsible for the slowdown in consumption.
