Indian table grapes return to Germany
MD
After blocking import of Indian table grapes for 2 years, Germany has started to import again.
European countries had rejected Indian exports of grapes due to presence of a chemical residue. Some countries had accepted consignments of grapes at lower rates, except Germany that had stopped import of indian table grapes.
Indian delegation of scientists (National Research Centre) exporters' association (GEAI) producers (APEDA) had met German authorities and the importers. They convinced them to start importing Indian table grapes.
Germany has started placing trial orders to the Indian exporters. The initial order was to the tune of 50 containers or around 600 t., an official from the agriculture department said.
