Increase of asparagus production

The asparagus season has just begun and production is expected to increase this year in Belgium.

Weather conditions were favorable for the development of asparagus. The season has started and the first peaks of production are planned for early May and professionals expect an increase of 15% in production this year.

In Belgium the asparagus is produced mainly in the regions of Malines and Louvain. The area of Malines has produced last year 1.5 million kilos of asparagus.
