Portugal is the first in Europe for football and the third for tomatoes production

Winner of the football competition EURO 2016 organized in France, Portugal shines in another European ranking: Production of Fruit & Vegetables.

 

 

EUROSTAT data show that Portugal was the third largest producer of tomatoes (8%) in the European Union in 2015, after Italy (36.3%) and Spain (27.4%).Those 3 countries combined provide 71.4% of tomato production in the EU.

 

 

These European official stats also states that 2.5% of vegetables and 3.6% of fruits produced in the European Union is cultivated in Portugal.
