Russia imported 10,000 tons of potatoes per day during the month of April 2011.
In recent months, Russia has had record imports of potatoes and broadened the range of its suppliers.
In April 2011, Russia imported 300,000 tons of potatoes, 5 times higher than for April 2010. Professionals expect even greater imports in May. If the estimates for an increase of 30-40% are achieved, imports for the month of May will be a record for Russian imports of potatoes.
In addition to traditional European suppliers such as the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom, Russia has recently added others such as Pakistan, Iran, and Afghanistan.
