Thanks to this project, the large supermarket chain aims to reduce the cost price of fresh products by supporting small producers. It has been signed with the Agricultural Credit Cooperatives of Turkey. As part of this project, the first seeds were planted in Bursa Yenişehir.
According to the General Director of CarrefourSA, this cooperative work will help to find solutions to small producers problems, who will be able to bring their fresh products to consumers in the most direct way, thus saving time and money. 40% waste would be avoided and a price reduction of around 20% is expected.
The project was presented on July, 18th at the CarrefourSA producers' platform in Bursa. A chain of traceability will be established, from seed to harvest, through logistics and all stages of production to the consumer. Farmers will have the opportunity to present their products to consumers at the best price and best quality for mutual satisfaction.
50 varieties of fresh fruits and vegetables are targeted through 344 cooperatives.
CarrefourSA has a sales capacity in the fruit and vegetable sector of 110,000 tons.
