The Uzbekistan plans to expand cooperation with international organizations, foreign investors, scientists and experts from the fruits and vegetable sector to increase domestic production.
Farmers in Uzbekistan produce about 180 types of fruits and vegetables. Between 2004 and 2013, the turnover was multiplied by 7.7 for the production of vegetables and 5.1 for the production of fruits. The country is now at the top 10 of world exports for apricots, plums, grapes, hazelnuts, cabbage.
The government expects that the current production (16 million tons) of fruit and vegetables, melons and grapes, will be multiplied by 2 in 2020. Numerous projects (storage, logistics centers) totaling approximately USD 150 million of investment will emerge in the coming years.
