+47.9% increase in exports of fruits

Dramatic increase in exports of Tunisian fruits, in comparison with 2013 figures.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, fruit exports have registered an increase of +47.9% in volume and +43.8% in value compared to the same period of 2013. Since the start of the season until 7 July 2014, exports totaled 27,884 tons (19,906 tons in 2013) and 39.5 million dinars (28.3 million dinars in 2013).
The main export products are watermelons and melons, representing 46% and 9% of total exports of summer fruits, followed by stone fruits (peaches, nectarines, plums and apricots) which constitute 35% of the total respectively.
