Oranges and mandarins from Argentina will soon be on the Mexican market.
Importing since 2017 lemons from Argentina, Mexico is now interested in sweet citrus (orange, mandarin) from Argentina.
Agents from SENASICA, Mexico's health service, came to Argentina to visit and inspect production and packaging sites to open the Mexican sweet citrus market to Argentina. Argentina could start exporting oranges and mandarins as early as next season.
Argentinian exports of oranges are concentrated between June and September; mandarin orange exports begin in March and end in September, with July and August being the most important.
In 2017, Argentina exported 78,971 tonnes of oranges and 40,460 tonnes of mandarins to various destinations. The main destination markets were Spain (27 914 tonnes) and Paraguay (28 351 tonnes) for oranges; Russia (20,024 tons) and the Philippines (6,509 tons) for mandarins.
