L'Agence Bio emphasises the importance of organic farming, which is seeing 2-digit growth in France.
Organic farming in France is growing.
L'Agence Bio (French agency for development and promotion of organic farming) has announced that one million hectares of land has been exceeded during the first half of 2012.
The growth dynamics of the organic farming is continuing through production and consumption. Between 2010 and 2011, the total number of organic operators grew by 14% to 35,271
professionals in late 2011. Organic farms increased by 12.3% to 23,135. Organic surfaces increased 15.3% during 2011 and have just passed million hectares during the first half of 2012.
In 2011, the sector sold nearly $4 billion euros in organic food products on the French market, or 11% more compared to 2010.
