CMR GROUP is a family business founded in 1879, with headquarters in Barcelona and commercial subsidiaries in Spain, France, Morocco and the Netherlands. They offer European customers a continuous service throughout the year with a very wide range of products, varieties, formats and origins, covering the different availability windows throughout the year. The company guarantees a certified and quality offer, top brands and in different formats to meet the needs of different types of customers.
It also has its own off-season production of Melons, Watermelons and Papayas from its productive subsidiary CMR BRASIL set on more than 1,800 hectares.
CMR BRASIL has a workforce of more than 400 people who carry out tasks of cultivation, harvesting, selection, labeling and packaging of COSARICA own brand fruit and vegetable products.
In their different locations, they have a QUALITY team made up of experienced professionals, who carefully review each of the different batches of products that arrive at their warehouses. They also have a product selection team to guarantee that they make an offer available to their customers in perfect condition for distribution. They have state-of-the-art infrastructures, with 35 cold rooms and 60 ripening rooms distributed among their different locations. In the ripening chambers, products such as bananas as well as extra category mangoes and avocados are ripened, which are marketed under their own brand name AURUM.
Carles Martí revealed to Fructidor that the CMR GROUP has implemented a CSR policy, adopting REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE at its CMR BRAZIL headquarters, which involves streamlining irrigation management, reducing inorganic fertilization, reducing agrochemicals, or establishment of plantation frameworks that prioritize the health of the crop, thus obtaining a healthier product with a more intense flavor, at the same time and through these measures, the company will be able to regenerate the soil, avoiding deforestation and contamination of aquifers.
“Likewise, both at the CMR GROUP headquarters in Barcelona, and at the subsidiary in Madrid, CMR INFINITA, and within the same Corporate Social Responsibility action policy, we have installed photovoltaic solar energy panels that allow us to generate direct current with which partially feeds the electrical needs for self-consumption of the headquarters. The panels provide clean and ecological energy, avoiding harmful emissions of greenhouse gases, thus being a tremendously respectful energy with the environment”, said the manager.
