The Peruvian season is in its final phase with record volumes in Europe, but an earlier than usual exit from the market is expected.
Of the 961 avocado containers that arrived in Europe in week 28, Peru contributed the largest volume with 640 containers, reaching its highest figure of the year, according to Avobook's report.
Despite this increase, a significant decrease is expected in the coming weeks, in anticipation of the arrival of avocados from Chile.
As for prices, Avobook reports that they are stable in the ports of Amsterdam and Spain, although a slight drop has been observed in the smaller sizes.
Mexico has regained its position in the US market, reaching a 45% share and displacing the California avocado, which now has 28%. Peru remains strong with 11 million pounds exported, followed by Colombia with 4.5 million.
The Canadian market has seen a remarkable growth in Michoacán exports to destinations outside the United States, increasing its share from 50% to 60% compared to the same period last year, while its sales in Europe have decreased, allowing other origins to gain ground.
Peru continues to lead the Chinese market with 44 containers, although a reduction is expected in the coming weeks. Prices in this market are relatively uniform between large and small calibres, with a difference of only 0.3 dollars per kilo.
