With a price 2 times cheaper, Armenian producers of potatoes plan to provide the Russian market.
APU ( Agrarian and Peasant Union) , the union of producers , announced exports to Russia of the first batch of potato seed for the month of November. Then , exports could reach in 2016 a volume of 10 000 tonnes.
According to the union , the price is 2 times cheaper for Armenian seeds : around 500 euros / tonne against EUR 900-1000 / ton for European seed. The quality is similar. The products delivered to Russia have grown at an altitude of over 2000 m, which eliminates any risk of contamination and which significantly reduces the amount of chemicals used.
