Myanmar is already exporting Fruits & Vegetables to China, but plans to increase their volume with 8 new varieties including avocados that are awaiting AQSIQ authorization, the Chinese quality control and sanitary safety administration.

Currently Myanmar's exports to China include mangoes, watermelons, melons, mangosteens, rambutans, lychees. To expand the volume of its exports Myanmar has applied for AQSIQ certification for new products: pomelos, bananas, durian, lime, yam, cardamom and avocados.

Myanmar enjoys a climate conducive to the cultivation of avocados that are harvested from December to the end of March. There are more than 1000 different species of avocados in the country. MFVP (Myanmar's Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Producer and Exporter Association), the main organization in the sector, points out that avocado plantations are mostly new, 12 000 hectares of plantations are less than 5 years old, and that production will continue to grow and develop.
