EVFTA, the free trade agreement between the EU and Vietnam, allows a reduction in customs duties for many Vietnamese agricultural products. A month after the entry into force of this agreement, Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports are on the rise.
EVFTA (EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement) entered into force on August 1, 2020. With this agreement, the EU reduced by 94% the customs duties applied to Vietnamese products.
Under this agreement, Vietnam has already exported agricultural products and coffee. A few days ago, a first shipment of passion fruit set off for the Netherlands. More shipments are planned this month including grapefruit, coconut and dragon fruit.
According to official data, 1 month after the entry into force of the agreement, several Vietnamese export products have already registered positive changes in the EU market. For some producing regions in the country, exports of local fruits and vegetables to the EU increased by 25.2% in August compared to the previous month, reaching $14.7 million.
