Peruvian blueberry exports increased 70% between 2013 and 2021

Between January and May 2022, Peru exported blueberries for $135 million, which is 114% higher than in the same period of 2021, when the revenue was $62.9 million, according to the Peruvian Foreign Trade Society (Comex Peru).

 

The average annual growth of exports of this berry between 2013 and 2021 reached 70%, going from $17.4 million to $1.187 million.

 

Thus, in 2021, Peru became the international blueberry exports leader, constituting 25.2% of the total marketed worldwide. Likewise, blueberry was positioned as the second product of the country's agro-exports, behind grapes.

 

The United States was the main destination with $84.4 million, +103.2% higher than in the first five months of 2021, and represented 62.5% of total Peruvian blueberry exports. 

 

Other destinations: The Netherlands, with $25.3 million (+88.5%); the United Kingdom, with $10 million, (+625.1%); China, with $4.7 million (+201.4%) and Hong Kong, with $3.9 million (+161%).
