Peruvian avocado exports reached more than US$1.3 billion in 2024.
In 2024, Peru's fruit exports exceeded US$6 billion, according to Desilú León Chempén, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).
The minister highlighted that blueberry shipments exceeded US$2 billion, while avocado exports reached more than US$1.3 billion. She pointed out that avocado continues to gain presence in international markets and that there are still new destinations to conquer.
As for grapes, she explained that large volumes are entering markets such as Japan and China. She mentioned that the free trade agreement (FTA) with Japan has been key, and that the trade agreement with China was updated and improved. She also indicated that new agreements with Indonesia and India are expected to be finalized this year.
The minister also stressed that Peruvian products meet strict quality standards to enter markets such as Asia and the European Union.
Finally, she highlighted the importance of the new Chancay mega-port, which has considerably reduced shipping times. The first shipments to Asia arrived in only 23 days, saving 14 days compared to previous times, which represents a great advantage for the shipment of fresh produce.
