“A Healthier Europe” campaign to encourage better eating habits across key member states.
A new European campaign promoting healthier eating launched recently in Torre Pacheco, Spain. Titled "A Healthier Europe," the initiative encourages citizens in Spain, France, and Germany to consume at least 400 grams of fruit and vegetables per day. The campaign is backed by three major produce associations: +Brócoli (broccoli), Alcachofa de España (artichokes), and Fresas de Francia (strawberries).
Running over the next three years, the project aims to boost long-term dietary habits across the EU. The launch event featured Antonia María Piernas, president of +Brócoli, who marked the association’s 16th assembly. Pedro Herrera of Alcachofa de España emphasized the campaign’s strategic goals, while local mayor Pedro Ángel Roca praised the agricultural strength of the Campo de Cartagena region.
Luis Alberto Marín, Minister of Economy and Finance, closed the event by supporting the campaign's objectives but raised concerns over future water cuts affecting the Tajo-Segura Transfer. He warned that reduced irrigation would harm both agricultural output and the regional economy. The campaign highlights how diet, agriculture, and policy remain deeply interconnected in the EU’s food future.
